Our videos will be distributed as widely as possible, free of charge, and target frontline district and primary care health workers.
We will reach this audience through international NGOs, ministries of health, and an established network of global health professionals.
As an internet-based knowledge resource project, our website will be the primary means of disseminating our videos rapidly and efficiently. By using our website as the primary pathway for video access, we can manage and control all changes and updates to our videos, thus ensuring they meet the highest-quality standards.
Video viewing could occur via a range of devices including smart phones, computers, laptops, netbooks, and PDAs depending on the technology available at training facilities or by individual health workers. Videos will be composed, lit and recorded in the highest resolution possible and then compressed to be compatible with a variety of playback options. The ability to reach health workers directly is evolving rapidly and our distribution strategy is designed to keep pace with these advances.
For those health workers who do not have the benefits of internet access (particularly those in the most remote locations) due to limited connectivity and/or the inability to afford the necessary mobile devices, our dissemination strategy includes reaching them using more basic technology:
- Access in the clinic setting: videos can be copied onto a USB flash drive and transferred to a laptop or desktop computer to be viewed through media player software.
- Access in the “village theatre”: videos can be copied and distributed on DVDs/VCDs and then viewed in the health workers’ local area on a TV using a DVD/VCD player.
