“Empower parents, enable breastfeeding”

This is the theme of World Breastfeeding Week (August 1–7), which focuses on creating an enabling environment for breastfeeding in communities and in the workplace.

Global Health Media Project supports breastfeeding worldwide with teaching videos for both mothers and health workers. Our breastfeeding videos are used in nearly every country and are now available in 40 languages. In the past two months alone, we have added videos in Rohingya, Tajik, Urdu, Nepali, four Ghanaian languages (Twi, Ewe, Ga, and Hausa), and with subtitles in traditional Chinese.

World Breastfeeding Week is the first week of August each year. The week is organized and coordinated by WABA (World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action) which is dedicated to protecting, promoting, and supporting breastfeeding worldwide. Their themes are selected to align with the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in order to raise awareness that breastfeeding is a key to sustainable development.
