Harshad Sanghvi, MD


Following a 20-year clinical and academic career in Obstetrics and Gynecology in Kenya, Harshad Sanghvi spent 2 decades assisting 45 countries adopt evidence-based guidelines, design training systems, develop health champions and seek innovative solutions to improve the performance of health care for women. His team developed the single visit approach for cervical cancer prevention, now practiced in 30 countries. In 2009, he received Global Health Council’s best practices award for his work in preventing postpartum hemorrhage at homebirth, now practiced in 45 countries.

He holds the prestigious Honorary Fellowship of the Indian College of Obstetrics and Gynecology following his work with FOGSI is expanding EMOC. He has conceptualized, developed and deployed several disruptive health technologies. He recently retired as VP and chief medical officer for Jhpiego, an affiliate of Johns Hopkins university and now serves in an emeritus position.
