Following the recent release of our complete Diabetes Series in English, the videos are now also available in Swahili, French, and Spanish. The 34 videos provide key information on prevention and care targeting three global audiences: people with diabetes, those who are living at risk, and frontline health workers.
The potential impact of these films is evident by the global burden of this disease: more than half a billion adults worldwide are living with diabetes, and nearly 75% of them live in low- and middle-income countries.
The true threat of this disease is even greater as seen by the huge numbers of adults who have prediabetes. For example, in the U.S. (where we have good data), nearly 40% of adults have prediabetes, compared to 15% with diabetes. Astonishingly, that means more than half of the entire adult population in the U.S. is affected by this disease.
Filming for the Diabetes Series was done in Kenya and Sri Lanka in 2022. Collaboration with the World Diabetes Foundation was crucial in identifying both content experts (to review the scripts and draft videos) and potential film sites.
Narrations in additional languages are now underway, including Vietnamese and Sesotho (the national language of Lesotho). If you would like to narrate these videos in your own language, please contact us.
