Project Description
Good attachment will help a baby get more milk and make breastfeeding more comfortable. This video shows why good attachment is so important to breastfeeding success and what a mother can do to deeply attach her baby to her breast.
This was a very informative video! I wish I had seen this when I was having trouble with my son’s weight gain due to his lip tie. Thank you!
This was the best breastfeeding video I’ve ever seen!
This is an amazing breastfeeding video! I work with breastfeeding moms and I’m going to have them watch it too!
This is now my new favorite video to show mothers during my breastfeeding education classes. Everything from the soothing voice of the narrator, to the slow motion latching shots to the content itself, this video has it all for discussing baby’s latch.
I hope to help this organization out more someday but in the meantime, I will share the videos when I can!
Thank you for all you do, GHM!
Great video scenes and sequences, but just one comment. Hyper-extension of the baby’s head can cause difficulty swallowing (try it with a cuppa yourself) and just at the end of the first baby sequence around 5mins in, I thought that the head was really falling too far back for effective feeding. A little bit of support at the base of the head to keep the head in the erect but not hyper-extended position was needed, and the mother probably gave it just as the shot ended. But otherwise, well done, and I’ll bookmark it and use it. We’ve come a long way since I had to write Breastfeeding Matters in 1984! Keep up the good work.
Wow, such a great, informative, jam packed video with great info for my postpartum clients, thank you !!
This is the best video for breastfeeding!!!
Is there a possibility to translate it into other languages?
I’d love a German version!
Yes – we will email you privately to tell you how. Thanks for your kind offer.
This is the best video I have ever seen for breast feeding. It helped me so much! Thank you for making it.
Incredibly useful.
Take the time to watch this video…you will be enlightened.
The Global Health Media videos are an excellent resource for mothers and health professionals. Thank you for producing them.
I am so thankful for this video. I am an IBCLC in central Missouri and work to make sure all of my clients have access to this video. It has helped many, many moms in our area. I appreciate all of your hard work!
Great video, different examples, well explained, wrongs and rights , good graphic what happens in the cavity of the mouth when attached.
Holding the breast c- shape like better then using the scissor grip – to leave enough space for baby’s mouth for a deep latch.
Agree with the comment not to overstretch baby’s neck. Will use video further 🙂
Very instructive video – esp showing what can go wrong and how to adjust it – but no attention seems to be given to the comfort of the mother and her position. Moms need backsupport and a pillow underneath the arm that holds the baby to ensure they can support the baby as long as the feeding takes. Also we need a similar video about problems and medical aspects of feeding practice , e.g. what if the breast gets infected, what symptoms to watch for, what if the baby has a fever, coop or other infant problems.
Thanks for your comment Alice. I think women manage to find ways to get comfortable — as pillows aren’t so available in the developing world, we didn’t use them often in the video. Please check out our newborn care videos and I believe we have one on breast problems.
I was not successful bfing my first two girls so set out to do my homework this time and was sure I was going to make it work. I have watch numerous YouTube videos and stumbled across this one and it finally plugged all the puzzle pieces together for me. I wish I had this 13 years ago when attempting to nurse my other babies. This time after watching this video I knew what to look for and expect and we have not had any issues since day one! We are now 15 weeks into bfing and want to continue until 1 yr. thank you so much for this video!!
Incredibly useful! !! Thank you!!!
This breastfeeding video was so helpful and informative. I wish I had this when struggling with my son at the beginning. Definitely should be added and included from now on!!! Thank you.
Very informative video and good content. The only thing I didn’t like about it was at the end when the narrator said breast milk for the first 6 months and nothing else. That’s not correct in my opinion. I know at 4 months most doctors give consent to incorporate baby cereal or baby food.
Hi Char,
Thanks for your comment and kind words. The content in the video regarding breast milk for the first 6 months follows well-established international guidelines for infant feeding — WHO, UNICEF. Happy to point you to the resources we used.
Very thorough and well explained. I really enjoyed it and found value in all the information. I hope more mothers can have access to this video so they dont give up on breastfeeding. Its a beautiful experience and this video truly shows that. Thank you!
This most definitely the most informative video on breadtfeeding i have seen. Showing how to get the infants miuth to open for a more sevure latch eas great. I found a way on my own , the way in the video is something I had seen when i breastfed my children.
great guideline. This is very helpful content and i get many help by this content..
Thanks for sharing this with us…
Beautiful video. Deep, effective latching easily explained along with normal milk production process. I would love to share with all my mothers at my medical center. Thank you for all you do for mums and their newborns as well as the future of the next generation.
