John McGill, MD — Medical

Director of Emergency Medicine, Orthopedic and Internal Medicine Education at the University of Minnesota. Dr. McGill is an emergency room physician and instructor. In 1986, with his work during the war in Afghanistan, he became one of the first humanitarian aid workers for MSF/Doctors Without Borders. He was one of the founders of the U.S. branch of Doctors Without Borders, was a member of its first board of directors, and was President of MSF/USA in 1996–2000.

Harshad Sanghvi, MD — Medical

Senior Professor, Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health; Vice President Innovations and Medical Director, Jhpiego. Dr. Sanghvi is responsible for leading Jhpiego’s technical and clinical approaches by designing and implementing effective, low-cost, hands-on solutions to strengthen the delivery of health care services for women and their families worldwide. He has extensive experience assisting more than 25 low-resource countries to adopt evidence-based guidelines, design training systems, develop health trainers and leaders, scale up training programs, and seek innovative solutions to improve the performance of health services for women. For the last 10 years, he has led the global effort in expanding emergency obstetric care as well as seeking solutions for preventing postpartum hemorrhage and cervical cancer in low-resource settings. Dr. Sanghvi was the main contributor to Managing Complications in Pregnancy and Childbirth: A Guide for Midwives and Doctors and contributing author to Managing Newborn Problems, two of the Integrated Management of Pregnancy and Childbirth (IMPAC) series of manuals published by the World Health Organization (WHO). He has more than 200 publications in international journals covering family planning, maternal health and cervical cancer. Dr. Sanghvi has also participated on expert and technical committees at WHO, UNICEF and the U.S. Agency for International Development. He received the 2009 Award for Best Practices in Global Health from the Global Health Council.

David Copithorne — Marketing and Technology

Former CEO of Porter Novelli International. David, an expert in global marketing and communications with extensive experience in social marketing and Web-based online education programs, is advising GHMP on its distribution and awareness-building strategies. He is currently managing partner of Aquarius Advisers LLC, a Boston-based consulting firm, and was previously CEO of Porter Novelli International, one of the world’s largest public relations firms with more than 1,500 employees and offices in 53 countries. In addition to work with global consumer, technology and health care companies and some of the world’s largest non-profit organizations, Porter Novelli pioneered the emerging field of social marketing through its award-winning work with the anti-tobacco Legacy Foundation’s “Truth” campaign and other work for the clients ranging from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control to the American Cancer society. He is also a “catalyst” advisor to startup teams funded by the Deshpande Center for Technological Innovation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. David graduated from Harvard College in 1975.

Dennis Hart — Legal

Associate General Counsel, Boston University. After working in a private law firm as a litigator and as corporate counsel at Digital Equipment Corporation, Dennis joined the Office of the General Counsel at Boston University in 1987. He handles a wide range of matters at the University, including sponsored research, regulatory compliance, policy administration and development, copyright and publishing, trademark, communications and media, information technology, collaborative educational ventures, and general business matters. Dennis earned his law degree from Harvard Law School in 1981 and received his bachelor’s degree in History from Yale University in 1976.

Jay Collier — Technology Expert

Founder and Executive Director, The Compass LLC (Topsham, Maine). Online media strategist, architect, and producer focusing on innovative learning communities, integrative thinking, and principled social action. Jay has mastery of the fast-changing information technology field as well as two decades of hands-on experience in media production.

Mark Yellen — Film Producer / Director

Mark has extensive experience producing Feature Films, Music Videos and Commercials. His feature film credits include the award winning Shiloh and its sequel, Shiloh Season; One Good Turn; Fist of the North Star; Amityville Dollhouse; Puerto Vallarta Squeeze; Blast; Montana; The Big Squeeze; Where the Rivers Flow North; and Guncrazy (in which Drew Barrymore was nominated for a Golden Globe), amongst others. A graduate of the San Francisco Art Institute, Mark cut his teeth working with Frances Ford Coppola at American Zoetrope where Mark produced his first Feature Film, Indigo. In addition to his tenure as a Feature Film Producer, Mark has extensive experience as a Second Unit Director, Line Producer, and First Assistant Director on Feature Films, Commercials and Music Videos. Mark also serves as a private consultant providing advising and mentoring services to individuals, emerging filmmakers, and established producers seeking creative guidance, production advice, logistic or information support throughout any stage of the filmmaking process. A member of the Producers Guild of America, Mark has several independent and studio feature films in active development.

Anne Dillon — Film Production

Anne Dillon has worked at various film companies in New York City, including Miramax, Twentieth Century Fox, and MGM. She has worked in the feature film and television movie industries functioning in a variety of roles including film publicist, director of development, associate producer, and post-production supervisor.

Mark Binder — Film Production

Mark has worked for over a decade as a documentary filmmaker and free-lance cameraman in diverse regions of the world including Lesotho, South Africa and Cape Verde. Over the past year, he has worked as a cameraman with the Global Health Media Project team in the Dominican Republic and Nigeria, and has had an active role in reviewing footage and co-ordinating post-production activities.

Allie Humenuk — Director, Producer and Director of Photography

Principal, Allie Humenuk Productions (Cambridge, Massachusetts). Allie Humenuk is both a teacher and a filmmaker. Her projects—for clients such as PBS, National Geographic, MTV and Discovery—have been televised and screened at film festivals around the world and have taken her from Cuba to China, from Ecuador to numerous countries in Africa. She has taught at Harvard University. Currently, she also serves as Executive Producer at Vida Health Communications, Inc. where she produces public health videos about maternal and child health topics.

James Ruddy — Film and Television Producer / Director

Instructor, Maine Media Workshops (Rockport, Maine). James has been writing, producing, directing, and shooting award-winning film and television programs, television spots and educational programming for the past 30 years. His long list of clients includes organizations such as ABC, AT&T, PBS, Paramount Pictures, Warner Bros, The Smithsonian, Spelling Films, BigChalk.com, and The Tony Robbins Organization. Some past and current projects include: production of a series of national PSA’s dealing with children and violence; production of a nationally distributed educational music video for Fidelity Investments; production of a new product promotional video for Sprint Multimedia; production of a series of promotional film spots for WGME-TV; production of a promo video for BigChalk.com; production and direction of annual Pop!Tech Conference and live world video stream.
